Summary:

Once we understand how we function as human beings—spirit, soul, and body—we can understand the power we have within. In our spirits, we possess supernatural ability and might. To transfer the power that lies within us to the natural realm, we must begin to acknowledge the good that is within our spirits.

  1. The spirit is completely recreated at the point of salvation.

    1. We are made new creatures in Christ when we become born again (2 Corinthians 5:17- 18, AMP).

      1. The transformation that took place within our spirits has to work its way into the soul and body.

      2. Everything we will ever need for life and eternity has already been placed in our spirits (Ephesians 1:3; 2 Peter 1:3).

      3. Might is the ability to do anything. We have that power within us (Ephesians 3:16, AMP).

      4. The power within us cannot be measured. We have the fullness of God’s power (Ephesians 1:18-19, AMP; John 1:16).

    2. We can release that power within us (our born-again spirits) into the natural realm by acknowledging every good thing that is within us (Philemon 1:4-6).

      1. To acknowledge something means to admit that it exists.

      2. When we face trouble in life, we must acknowledge what the Word says about who we are in Christ, not what our circumstances indicate.

      3. We cannot transfer from our spirits into the natural realm without faith; we must believe the Word and agree with it.

      4. In His earthly ministry, Jesus acknowledged the good that was within Him.

    3. The spirit of a person is the life-giving force of that person; it is the core of who he or she is.

      1. Some Christians are dominated by their souls and bodies, which means they are dominated by their senses.

      2. However, we can be dominated by our spirits if we line our souls up with our spirits.

      3. Our spirits only believe the Word of God; therefore, we must renew our minds with the Word.

      4. Mind renewal must become a life-long commitment.

  2. To renew our minds means to take our thoughts and exchange them for God’s thoughts (Romans 12:2).

    1. Every attack from the enemy starts in the mind.

      1. Satan wants us to agree with our senses—what we see, hear, or feel.

      2. He wants us to be dominated by our senses.

      3. However, we can defeat him by keeping our minds in agreement with God’s Word.
