    1. Faith requires patience.
      1. Faith is a practical expression of your confidence in God and His Word.
        1. Faith begins with the Word of God.
          1. If you don't have the Word, you won't have faith.
      2. Patience is constantly and consistently remaining the same.
        1. It's remaining the same regardless of the circumstances.
          1. Everything you believe in will be tested; however, if you'll remain the same, your faith will see you through to the manifestation of God's promises.
    2. During tribulation, patience and faith will work for you (2 Thessalonians 1:4).
      1. In the midst of trouble, go to the Word first.
        1. The Word is your ammunition.
          1. Use a concordance to find scriptures that deal with the situation you're facing.
          2. Pray those scriptures, meditate on them, and keep them in your heart until the peace of God overtakes you.
    3. Receiving the promises of God requires discipline (Hebrews 6:12).
      1. Don't be a spiritual sluggard and grow disinterested or lazy.

  2. Learn how to use hard times as an opportunity to develop.
    1. Rejoice when you fall into temptations and hard times (James 1:2-4).
      1. Joy comes from what you know.
        1. You must first know what the Word says before you can count it all joy.
    2. Your faith (confidence) in what you know will be tested.
      1. When you're believing God for something, the enemy will try to use circumstances to attack your confidence.
        1. Don't let go of your confidence.
        2. Use hard times as stepping stones in your development.
          1. If you make a habit of quitting when it's hard, you'll always miss opportunities for growth.
          2. Greatness doesn't just fall on you; you've got to step into success.
            1. Champions are built through conflict.
    3. When your faith is being tried, employ patience.
      1. Allow patience to complete her perfect work.
        1. When patience has completed her perfect work, you will not want or lack anything.
          1. Being in want is an indication that you have gotten rid of patience.
    4. Confidence and patience are necessary to receive the promises of God (Hebrews 10:35, 36).
      1. When you have confidence, you will rest in God's ability, not your own.
        1. There is no problem, no challenge, and no trial that is too hard for God (Genesis 18:14).

  3. Patience will lead you to eternal life.
    1. People who seek eternal blessings will obtain eternal life (Romans 2:7).
      1. You must hear the Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience (Luke 8:15).
        1. Without patience you will not bring forth fruit.
