Summary:

There are two kingdoms in operation at all times—the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of God. Jesus is the King of the kingdom of God, which is based in love. Satan rules the darkness, which operates through what is called the “world” and is based in selfishness. We cannot mix the two kingdoms by trying to be both worldly and godly simultaneously.

  1. “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possessions” (Psalm 2:8, AMP).

    1. We must take back our God-given possessions in this earth; however, we must also be focused on benefiting the kingdom of God.

    2. As Christians, we are all in ministry, not just those who preach in the pulpit. We each play a vital role in God’s kingdom.

  2. We must understand how kingdoms operate, and how God’s kingdom operates. Here are some established principles about kingdoms:

    1. Every kingdom has a king.

    2. Every king has dominion.

      1. Jesus is King of kings; His glory and dominion have been established forever and ever (Revelation 1:5-6).

    3. Kingdoms have territories.

      1. In the wilderness, Satan tried to tempt Jesus to bow down to him by offering Him the territories where he (Satan) had influence (Matthew 4:1-10).

      2. However, Jesus overcame the temptation with the Word of God.

      3. Jesus knew His identity; He refused to operate any way other than God’s way.

      4. God wants us to establish His kingdom today, wherever we go, even in the world.

    4. Kingdoms have citizenship. We are citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20, AMP).

    5. Every kingdom has a constitution. The Bible is the constitution of God’s kingdom (Psalm 19:7).

    6. There is government in heaven (Isaiah 9:6-7).

    7. Kingdoms have armies. God gives His angels charge over us (Psalm 91:11).

      1. For example, God sent His angel to deliver His servants Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (Daniel 3:26-30).

      2. The young men had refused to bow down to another god (a law established by King Nebuchadnezzar).

      3. When they were sentenced to death by being thrown into a fiery furnace, they trusted that God would deliver them.

      4. Princes, governors, and captains saw the supernatural deliverance of the young men, “upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed” (Daniel 3:27).

      5. God was given the praise for delivering His servants.

      6. The ungodly king, Nebuchadnezzar, had no choice but to decree that there is no other God but the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.

      7. The young men were given recognition and promotion because they trusted God.

    8. At times in our lives, we must make difficult decisions. We must choose either the world’s way or God’s way.

      1. In choosing God’s way, we may face opposition and persecution. However, God will always deliver us and promote us when we trust Him.
